Product Name: Crusher Wear Parts - Crusher Hammer
Product Category: Mining Part
Core Material: High Manganese Steel GX120Mn12
Material Characteristics: GX120Mn12 is a classic high manganese wear-resistant steel grade. Its primary characteristic is its ability to rapidly work-harden under strong impact and compression loads. This means that as the hammer repeatedly strikes material, its working surface becomes significantly harder (can exceed HB500), forming a tough wear-resistant layer. Meanwhile, the core, not subjected to severe deformation, maintains the high toughness of its austenitic structure (possessing high impact toughness). This combination of a hard surface and tough core allows the hammer to effectively resist abrasive wear while absorbing significant impact energy without fracturing, making it an ideal material for crushing hard, high-impact materials.
Chemical Composition (Reference): This grade typically contains approximately 1.0%−1.35% Carbon (C) and 11.0%−14.0% Manganese (Mn). A proper carbon-manganese ratio and strictly controlled levels of impurities like Phosphorus (P) and Sulfur (S) are fundamental to ensuring its excellent performance.
Manufacturing Process: Sand Casting
Process Advantages: Sand casting is a mature and cost-effective forming process, particularly suitable for producing castings with complex structures and large sizes/weights, such as our crusher hammers (up to 1 Ton per piece). We utilize high-quality molding sand and advanced molding/core-making techniques to ensure good dimensional accuracy and surface finish of the castings.
Quality Control: Every step, from pattern design, mold preparation, melting and pouring, to shakeout and cleaning, is strictly controlled. We perform precise chemical analysis during the melting process to ensure compliance with the GX120Mn12 standard. After casting, necessary inspections are carried out, including visual checks, dimensional measurements, and, based on customer requirements, non-destructive testing (NDT such as UT, MT) and mechanical property tests.
Heat Treatment: High manganese steel castings typically require a specific heat treatment known as water quenching (or solution treatment). This involves heating the casting to approximately 1050∘C−1100∘C, holding it for sufficient time to allow carbides to dissolve fully into the austenite, and then rapidly cooling it in water. This critical step aims to achieve a single-phase austenitic microstructure, maximizing the steel's toughness and preparing it for subsequent work-hardening during operation. We strictly control heat treatment parameters to ensure optimal overall performance for every hammer.
Surface Treatment: Rust Preventative
To ensure the product remains in good condition during transport, storage, and prior to installation, all hammer surfaces undergo rust preventative treatment. This typically involves applying rust-inhibiting oil or paint to form a protective layer, effectively isolating the surface from air and moisture, preventing corrosion that could affect appearance and potentially performance before use.
Application: Mining Industry and Related Fields
Applicable Equipment: Primarily used in equipment that relies on high-speed rotating hammers to impact and crush materials, such as Hammer Crushers, Impact Crushers, and Vertical Shaft Impactors (VSI / Sand Making Machines).
Materials Crushed: Suitable for crushing various minerals and rocks with different hardness and abrasiveness (e.g., iron ore, gold ore, copper ore, limestone, granite, basalt), cement clinker, construction waste, coal gangue, etc.
Operating Environment: Designed for the harsh conditions found in mines, quarries, cement plants, aggregate production facilities, and solid waste processing industries, capable of withstanding high-intensity impact, compression, and abrasive wear.
Product Advantages:
High Wear Resistance: Unique work-hardening mechanism – becomes more wear-resistant under impact.
High Toughness: Effectively absorbs impact energy, resistant to fracture, high operational safety.
Cost-Effective: Offers good performance and economic value under specific high-impact conditions compared to some other wear materials.
Stable Production: Mature casting and heat treatment processes ensure consistent and reliable product quality.
Packaging: Wooden Pallet
Packaged using sturdy and durable wooden pallets. Hammers are arranged appropriately based on size and weight and secured using strapping bands to ensure stability and safety during long-distance transport and multiple handling operations, preventing collision damage. Suitable for handling with forklifts.
Weight: Up to 1 Ton per piece
We have the capability to produce hammers in various specifications. Custom production based on customer drawings or samples is available. Our weight range is extensive, with the capacity to manufacture large hammers weighing up to 1 Ton each, meeting the requirements of various heavy-duty crushing equipment.
