Core Material: High Manganese Steel GX120Mn12

  • Material Characteristics: As a classic high manganese wear-resistant steel, GX120Mn12's key advantages are its unique work-hardening capability and high toughness. When subjected to pressure, impact, or high-stress abrasive wear from materials, its surface rapidly hardens, forming an extremely hard wear-resistant layer. Concurrently, its internal matrix retains an austenitic structure, providing very high impact toughness, allowing it to absorb impact energy without fracturing easily. For a pin protector, these properties mean it can resist severe abrasive wear caused by hard particles infiltrating gaps, while also withstanding certain impact loads, protecting both the pin and the mounting hole.

  • Chemical Composition (Reference): This grade typically contains approximately 1.0%−1.35% Carbon (C) and 11.0%−14.0% Manganese (Mn). Strictly controlled composition ratios and low levels of impurities like Phosphorus (P) and Sulfur (S) are crucial for ensuring its excellent overall performance.

Manufacturing Process: Sand Casting

  • Process Characteristics: Sand casting is a mature and flexible process suitable for producing pin protectors that may have irregular shapes (e.g., with grooves or teeth, as suggested by the image). This process allows for cost-effective production and can meet demands for various sizes and batch quantities. We use high-quality molding materials and process controls to ensure the casting's dimensional accuracy and internal quality.

  • Quality Assurance: We implement full-process quality monitoring, from mold design, sand mold manufacturing, metal melting and composition control, pouring, to subsequent cleaning and heat treatment. Castings undergo visual and dimensional inspections.

  • Heat Treatment: Like other high manganese steel components, pin protectors undergo a mandatory, rigorous water quenching (solution treatment) after casting. By heating to 1050∘C−1100∘C, soaking, and then rapidly cooling in water, a single-phase austenitic structure is obtained. This eliminates casting stresses, maximizes the material's toughness, and provides it with excellent work-hardening potential.

Surface Treatment: Rust Preventative

  • To prevent corrosion during storage, transportation, and before installation, all pin protector surfaces are coated with a rust preventative agent (such as anti-rust oil or paint) to protect their appearance and dimensional accuracy.

Function & Application: Mining Industry and Related Crushing Operations

  • Core Function: Installed on the rotor components of crushers (like hammer crushers, impact crushers), surrounding the pins that secure hammers or blow bars. Its primary roles are:

    1. Anti-Abrasion: Fills potential gaps between the pin and mounting hole, or protects the pin head/nut and hole edges, preventing fine, hard mineral dust and grit from intruding and causing severe abrasive wear.

    2. Impact Protection: Absorbs and disperses some impact forces that might otherwise be transmitted to the pin or the edges of the mounting hole, reducing stress concentration.

    3. Sacrificial Protection: Acts as a relatively low-cost consumable part that wears out sacrificially to protect the more valuable and complex-to-replace pins and rotor body.

  • Application Environment: Suitable for various rock crushers in mines, quarries, cement plants, aggregate production lines, etc., especially when processing highly abrasive materials. It significantly enhances the reliability and lifespan of the pin assemblies.
